When the dream you held no longer feels like yours
Creating space to lead, decide, and change without disappearing
Our Center
We center the lives and leadership of Black women, unapologetically.
That commitment shapes both who we coach and how we work with organizations.
Black women are often asked to hold systems together while making themselves smaller inside them. We learn to translate, anticipate, overdeliver, and absorb what the organization has not learned to carry. What looks like excellence from the outside can quietly become contortion within.
Breathing Room creates another possibility.
For Black women, this is space to examine the inherited beliefs, professional expectations, and survival strategies shaping how we lead and live. It is an opportunity to reclaim authority, make choices from self-trust, and succeed without disappearing.
For organizations, this is an invitation to examine the conditions that make contortion necessary. We work with leaders and teams willing to look beneath policies and performance metrics to understand how identity, power, culture, and unspoken expectations impact the way people make decisions, navigate change, and contribute their best work.
When we design for the people performing the highest level of contortion - and we have proof - the entire system becomes more honest, humane, and capable of change. People gain more room to lead as themselves. Teams gain a clearer understanding of what their culture is asking people to carry. Organizations gain the insight to build change that people can actually inhabit.
This is our commitment to creating lives, leadership, and organizations in which people do not have to disappear to succeed.
Clarity is realized from making space, not pushing harder
