Migrating between musings and manifesto, words are power, and we use them to heal.
What you will find here is equal parts irreverent rants, realizations and reflections that actually move us forward to a more authentic way of being. Take what you need.
For years, it was believed the world of work was a place to belong and become. What we found was that belonging came with conditions. It asked for contortion. It had little room for the quirks of personality or the texture of our stories.
There are centuries of so-called progress built on the premise that humans need fixing—that we arrive incomplete and must earn our way into worthiness. Breathing Room was built on a different belief entirely. You came here whole. The work is remembering that.
Identity-centered coaching examines the challenge of belonging and becoming in an environment that incessantly reminds you that you’ll never belong and that becoming requires just one more thing (degree, weight loss, hairstyle change). The work done within Breathing Room and beyond has nothing to do with constructing a version of yourself that aligns with an external archetype. As Andre’ 3000 reminds us, You are the Prototype.
Community lives at the center of what we do. True community asks something of us that corporate success seldom does. It asks for vulnerability. We are building a space where that ask is safe. In order to make that ask, our Founder takes the first step in sharing the words that helped her heal with the hope it may do the same for you.
